Working actor and acting coach Lisa Timmons teaching physicality for an audition.

There are two types of procedural audition genres:

Legal Procedurals and Medical Procedurals

Procedural genres have a formula to their storytelling, and knowing this formula will inform your choices and shape "How" you show up.

Understanding the given circumstances, your relationship to the other characters in the scene with you, your role in serving the story, your wants, needs, intent, and tactics, along with the technical aspects of your character's Position (Police Officer, Detective, Lawyer, Doctor, Nurse, EMT, etc.) is the key to embodying the procedural role.

Working Actress and Acting Coach Lisa Timmons has 16 years of experience as a Tactical Medic and a Police Officer, with specializations in medical and trauma emergencies, background investigations, human behavior analysis, interrogation, defensive tactics, EVOC, criminal law, and traffic law. Lisa also has 35 years of experience in martial arts, with a concentration in MMA.

Her experience in the physical realm of stunts and martial arts gives her an edge on different techniques to "sell" the physical movements within the framing of a self-tape audition.
